College Charism

San Damiano College embraces the Franciscan charism, inspired by St Francis and St Clare of Assisi. Designed in harmony with this tradition, the layout of the College buildings and grounds reflects the feel of the Italian village of Assisi, encouraging a sense of community, simplicity and connection. This charism underpins all aspects of College life, fostering compassion, respect and care for others and for creation.

College Naming

The name San Damiano holds deep significance within the Franciscan tradition. San Damiano was the original name of a small chapel, monastery and cross in Assisi, Italy. It was here, while praying before the San Damiano Cross, that St Francis heard God call him to “repair the Church.” St Francis lived out this call through a life of service, faith and Gospel living. San Damiano College draws inspiration from this story, encouraging students to live with purpose, integrity and love.

College Principal

Peter Edwards is the Principal of San Damiano College. Peter leads the College with a strong vision for faith‑centred learning and community growth. School tours are conducted on the last Wednesday of each month, offering prospective parents and students the opportunity to experience the College and hear firsthand Peter’s vision for San Damiano College.

Construction

Construction of Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the College is complete, with Stage 4 currently underway, supporting the continued growth and development of the campus as enrolments increase.
